Theresa and Sadie
A few weeks after I moved to the Sacramento area, I went in search of a Chihuahua. A lady was breeding dogs in her trailer home and she brought out three puppies. I took the smallest female runt. A miniature deer Chihuahua. My son, Joey, named her Sadie. She looks like a deer. And she’s the sweetest dog in the whole world.
Susan Grant used Sadie as the muse for the Chihuahua in her book, Your Planet OR MINE? Look at the acknowledgement page to see Sadie’s name in print. LOL
Sadie is 14 years old now. That’s 80-something in dog years…I believe the vet said. She’s doing well though and yes, she manages to do that funny shivering thing Chihuahua’s often do, especially when too many people come around wanting to pet her.

Sisters Cathy and Sally in Amsterdam
I have been writing articles and blogs for the Wet Noodle Posse since 2003. Today I wrote about Motivation. What motivates us to write? Come over and comment at our BLOG. Or stay right here and tell me what you do everyday and why…what motivates you to do what you do?

I jumped out of an airplane last week. Why? I’m not sure. My daughter wanted to and I never stopped to think that it might be a scary thing to do. I thought it sounded fun and I can’t say I don’t get queasy when I’m way up high looking down…like in those glass elevators in Las Vegas where you’re going up and up and looking over the city. I googled “skydiving” the night before our jump and I didn’t tell my husband or my daughter about the potential risks. I figured they knew anyhow and my daughter had been begging me for years. It was her 16th birthday. Well, my daughter jumped first and I later found out that my husband, Joe, was fearful for her life and he wondered what the heck we were doing up in this plane. He jumped next and I was last. As the camera man took my picture, a lone parachute came flying our way. The cameraman dodged the parachute and my guy said, “It looks like a cutter.” Or something like that… I said, “is that someone’s parachute?” He told me that someone had indeed lost their first parachute. By the time I looked below and counted parachutes I knew the second parachute had opened. It turned out be my husband’s. He jumped after my daughter but got to the ground first! He had twice as much freefall time as the rest of us. He’s happy to be alive and has a new appreciation for life! LOL
But jumping out of an airplane? No problem. I never once felt afraid for my life. I never once felt queasy even when I was inside a rickety old plane with duct tape across the ceiling. The free falling was the best part. Once the parachute was released the ride down felt more like a rollercoaster ride and if I could do it again I would tell the guy I was attached to not to spin so much. I would have liked to arrive on the ground in a straight line. The freefalling, on the other hand, didn’t feel like I was falling at all. I felt like I was in one spot, stationary, with the wind whipping into my ears and face. That part of the ride was magical and I didn’t want it to end.
No Fear! Just Do it! That’s how I try to live my life. Although I don’t know if I would ever do it again, I can honestly say that I’m glad I jumped from an airplane! It was exhilerating!

A bunch of Pixie Chicks!
San Francisco was one of my favorite conferences! I was relaxed and I managed to get plenty of sleep. On Friday night I went to the Cheesecake Factory with some of the other Golden Heart Finalists (aka the Pixie Chicks). It was wonderful getting to know everyone better. I had the opportunity to sit with Tatia, Melissa, Kris, Becky, Laurie, Cathy, and Kay Cassidy!
My roommates, Caroline Fyffe, Katey Coffing, and Lacey, made the trip extra special too.

Theresa and Katey
Highlight of the trip was meeting my new agent Kevan Lyon and some of her other clients on Saturday night before the awards ceremony. Then Amy Atwell, Laura Griffin and I all walked three blocks back to the hotel to watch the show.
